FrankenZine Mini Zine Fest

Literary Institute, Lord Street, Redcar

I started Tees Zine Fest in 2023 after visiting a fantastic event in York. With the Support of The Word, Wade Radford and Navigator North, we became a CIC in November 2024. We’re now a directorship of 4 and still have our original supporters along the way.

Tees zine fest celebrates Zine artists and makers, self publishing their work and works with young people across Teesside to use Zine making as a source of self expression, solidarity and community. We’ve so far run 3 Zine Fests and a Makers Market, worked with young LGBTQIA+ people in Redcar, on a Women’s project in Sunderland and with a Youth People of Colour group in Middlesbrough.

May 2025 Tees Zine Fest

In May 2025 we were back in Navigator North’s space, Unit 7 in the Hill Street Shopping Centre. This time we split into 2 events. We brought in a rule for all products to be less than a fiver, and added a quiet hour. It was so good to see many of our favourite Zine Makers return, and we had brilliant workshops from Nic Golightly and The Werd.

Our Resident Zine Maker and Film Maker extraordinaire Wade Radford Made this amazing film on Video8 of the day
